Funeral services were held June 8th at the Memorial Funeral Home for Dennis E Atkinson, 70, who died on June 7th at the Houston Hospital. Services were held by Rev. James Smith and interment was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Atkinson lived at Route 2, Houston. He was the son of Sid Atkinson and Jimmie Waldrop and was a native of Chickasaw County. He was a retired cotton grader.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Betty Atkinson of Houston; a son, Gary of Denton, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Fasane of Clinton and Mrs. Maryetta Gunter of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Sid L Atkinson of Durham, N C, Robert of Houston, Edward of Maben, and Billy of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Turner of Houston and Mrs. Edith Walker of Memphis, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bertie J Mixon, Mack Priest, James Kyle, James Waldrop, Jimmy Smith and Charlie Tillman.
