30 December 1910, taken from Huntsville Democrat: "Two old people, neighbors, of near Smyrna, died Thursday night of last week. James Moren had been afflicted several months with paralysis and Mrs. John Carter, whose death was caused by pneumonia fever. The remains of each were interred in the Fritts Cemetery.
from The Mountain Air, December 24, 1910: Venus News: The news of the death of Mrs. John Carter, was received the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Carter were among the first settlers in this neighborhood and there are many friends here who regret to hear of her death. About three years ago they sold out here and moved hear Huntsville.
