1844 John arrived in MS with his parents. John took over the family farm. During the Civil War John served in the 14th MS Regt., Co. G, as a private. In 1873 when John married Mary he was 21 years older than her. John's grave is unmarked, but he is believed to be buried next to his daughter. Burial record is from the Bell Family Bible last owned by his granddaughter Wilda Bell Gore.
