Benjamin Cleveland Sr., aged 83, a resident of Madison for 24 years and of Dane County for 73 years died yesterday at his home, 1822 Madison Street, of pneumonia.

Mr. Cleveland was born Dec. 12 1836 in Crawford county, PA., and moved with his parents into Michigan in 1838. They came to Wisconsin and settled at Middleton in 1847. Mr Cleveland purchased a farm in the town of Cross Plains, where he lived until his removal to Madison in 1896. He was married to Matilda Showers Dec 26, 1853.

Mr Cleveland's widow and 10 children survive him. They were William F. Cleveland, Joseph R. Cleveland and Orlando Cleveland, all of Madison. Esther Herrick of Packwaukee, Daniel Cleveland of Pemberton, Minn., Charles E. Cleveland of North Freedom, Mrs. Francis Cook of San Luis Obispo, Cal., Mrs. Edith Scott of Long Beach, Cal., Mrs. Hannah Whitt of Dodgeville, and Benjamin Cleveland of Cooks, Wash.

The funeral will be conducted at the home tomorrow at 2:30 pm by the Rev. W. J. McKay. Interment will be at Forest Hill. Bearers will be Frank and George Bell, Myron F. Brown, Harvey L. Thompson, Joseph Astell and Charles Post. The Masonic quartet will sing at the home.
