He married Norma Newell on June 25, 1948, in Eldora at the Eldora Church of Christ. The couple moved to a farm in the Ivester area until 1951, when they moved to a farm northeast of Whitten, where they farmed until 1964. The couple remained on the farm until 1979, then they moved to Union. Donald went to work at Dunham Bush, where he worked until 1972, and then he worked for Marshalltown Instruments until retiring in 1984. Donald was very active in the Church of Christ in Union where he has been a member for over 30 years.
Donald enjoyed fishing, woodworking in his shop and he loved being a handyman for friends and family. He also was a loyal Hawkeye fan.
Donald will be missed by his wife, Norma, his children; Dee McCoy of Union, Lee (Terry Monroe) Jackson of Eldora, Lynn Schwarck of Union, Lonn (Kenda) Schwarck of Austinville, IA, Phil (Maggie) Schwarck of Marshalltown, 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, four brothers; Dale (Marjorie) Schwarck of Eldora, Vic (Mona) Schwarck of Union, Carl (Joan) Schwarck of Marshalltown, Paul (Catherine) Schwarck of Marshalltown, four sister-in-laws; Betty Schwarck of Charles City, IA, Phyllis Schwarck of Union, Evelyn Schwarck of Eldora, and Inez Wolford of Burlington, IA.
In eternal life Donald joins his son Steve Schwarck, his grandson, Jake Schwarck, four brothers; Milo, Glen, Morrie Schwarck and Richard Wolford, two sisters; Lucille Strauss and Margaret White.
