Victor L. Schwarck, 97, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of rural Grundy County, died on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Bickford of Marshalltown under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Visitation and services at the Whitten Community Church with Pastor Jim Hartman and Chaplain Harlan Nuss officiating. He will be laid to rest at Sheller Cemetery in rural Grundy County.

Victor Lowell Schwarck was born on February 4, 1925, on the family farm in Grundy County to Alonzo and Ada (Smith) Schwarck. He graduated from Whitten High School with the class of 1943.

He was married to Ida Maria "Abbie" Freed until her passing in 1979.

On June 5, 1996, he married Mona (Wilson) Moore at the Little Brown Church. They lived in Union, Iowa, and later at Oak Estates in Conrad.

Victor lived in rural Grundy County the majority of his life, including five years in Steamboat Rock. Hardworking and dedicated, he was a lifelong farmer, working the land and raising livestock cattle. He raised 4-H calves and his own popcorn and enjoyed watching tractor sales.

He was a member of Farm Bureau, Eldora Bowling League and Ivester, and a faithful member of Church of the Brethren and Whitten Community Church. A skilled woodworker, Victor loved making handmade gifts for everyone and even made the cross at the front of the Whitten Community Church. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, music and polka dancing, and playing 500 and Pepper, especially at family gatherings.

Surviving are his children, Vickii (Jerry) Ward, Jan Williams, Garry (Melinda) Schwarck, and Joelle Blondel, their exchange student from France; grandchildren, Matthew Ward, Michael (Shelly) Ward, Levi (Jill) Schwarck and Abbie (Michael) Schaa; great-grandchildren: Parker, Wesley, Lilly, Ethan, Hailey and Jaycee; his brother Paul (Catherine) Schwarck; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Schwarck, Joan Schwarck, Sheri Freed; and many nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, Victor is reunited with both wives; his parents, Alonzo and Ada; siblings, Richard, Dale, Milo, Donald, Glen, Carl, Mauri, Lucille, and Margaret; and many sisters-in-law.
