Merrell Henry, 82, 956 Forest View Dr., died at home May 30, 1975, of a heart ailment.

Born April 6, 1894, Vernal, to James Barnum and Mary Brown Henry. Married Violet Lebeau November 24, 1917, Vernal; solemnized, Manti LDS Temple. She died May 7, 1966. Married Mable Winward September 15, 1967. Veteran WW I; homesteaded in Diamond Mountain; civil servant.

Survivors, wife, son, Lawrence L. Sr., Orem; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, sister, Mrs. Bertha Armstrong, Hinckley, Millard County.

SALT LAKE CITY--Funeral services for Merrell Henry, 82, of 957 Forest View Drive, Salt Lake City, who died of a heart ailment at his home Friday, May 30, 1975, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the LDS Ward Chapel located at 2700 S. 900 E.

Friends may call at the chapel one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Sandy City Cemetery.

Mr. Henry was the father of Lawrence L. Henry Sr., Orem.

He was born April 6, 1894 in Vernal to James Barnum and Mary Brown Henry. He married Violet LeBeau on November 24, 1917 in Vernal and the marriage was solemnized later in the Manti LDS Temple. She died May 7, 1966.

He married Mable Winward on September 15, 1967.

Mr. Henry was a veteran of World War I. He was a government civil service worker and had homesteaded in Diamond Mountain.

Survivors include his widow and one son, Lawrence L. Henry Sr., Orem; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Armstron, Hinckley, Millard County.

Merrell Henry served in Europe during World War I.

He had a few cattle and milk cows, and raised bees and sold honey in Vernal during the 1920's. He moved his family to Union about 1937 or 38 where he farmed and did carpentry.

In the early 1940's he and Violet moved to Colorado Springs and he worked as a civil servant on government related constructions. They later moved to Clearfield.

When Violet died in 1966, Merrell sold the home in Clearfield, was married to Mable Winward, and they purchased a home on Forest Avenue in Salt Lake, where he lived until his death.

Married Violet Lebeau November 24, 1917.

Violet was a fastidious homemaker.

In her short biography she reported that she had a very hard and sad childhood. She and Merrell had four children: Maurice M. (1918 - 1969), Mildred (1920 - 1962), Lawrence L (1922 - 2004), and Violet Leora (1927 - 1941).

While living in Clearfield she worked as a nurse at the hospital, was recognized for her service American Legion Women's Auxillary, and her service to church and community. She also spent time crocheting.
