Mrs. Sarah Priscilla Henry Lewis

Mrs. Sarah Priscilla Henry Lewis, 69, 1337 Lincoln St., died Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at her residence after a series of strokes. She had been ill since October.

She was born May 5, 1881, in Vernal, a daughter of James Barnum and Mary Brown Henry.

Mrs. Lewis was active in auxilliary organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and belonged to the Twelfth Ward.

She was married to John J. Lewis July 24, 1930, in Murray.

Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Brunette, Auburn, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Murray Merkley, Jensen, Uintah County and Mrs. Andrew Armstrong, Ephraim, Sanpete County and a brother, Merrill Henry, Clearfield, Davis County.

Sarah Priscilla Henry was born in the cabin on the Bench (Vernal) to Mary Frances Brown and James Barnum Henry.

She was an attractive child and as she grew up showed a natural executive ability and talent. She always excelled in school work. After finishing the high school courses given at Uintah Stake Academy, she attended Brigham Young University.

She married Joseph A. McKee on September 7, 1904 and had three children. Two died as babies. They divorced.

She married John J. Lewis July 25,1930. They lived in Salt Lake City where he owned a tailor shop. Her nephew-in-law Rulon Ashby remembers buying a suit from John Lewis.
