Funeral services for Maurice Henry were held Monday in the Glines Ward LDS Chapel. Mr. Henry died Friday in a Salt Lake hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Henry was born August 10, 1918 in Vernal to Merrell and Violet LeBeau Henry. He married Ruth Allred August 22, 1952 in Evanston, Wyoming.
He is a veteran of World War II and a member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include his widow, daughters, Mrs. Laurel (Sharon) Pope, Wilbur, Washington; Andrea Henry, Provo and Glenna Henry, Vernal; grandchildren, father, stepmother, Salt Lake City; brother, Lawrence, Orem.
The services were conducted by Bishop Donnell E. Wardle. Prayer at the mortuary was by Keith Caldwell, Bishop Wardle gave the obituary and remarks, William E. Holfeltz gave the opening prayer.
A song, "Whispering Hope", was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Glade Sowards. Ashel Manwaring was the speaker. The Glines Ward chorus sang, "Oh My Father." Larry R. Searle gave the benediction.
Prelude and postlude music and accompaniment were played by Enid Cook.
Pallbearers were David Merkley, Lawrence Henry Jr., Barney Henry, Adam Roloff, Frank Merrell and Wright. Laurel J. Pope, son-in-law, dedicating the grave.
As Mr. Henry was a veteran of World War II, a military service was conducted at the graveside by American Legion Witbeck Post No. 11. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park.
Attending from out-of-town were the Laurel J. Pope family, Wilbur, Washington; The Tom Allreds and Mrs. Ellis Morrill, Roosevelt; the Max Allred family, Vera Allred, the Harry Fieldsteds, the Heber Timothys and the Hershel Lorgs, all of Altamont.
Also, the Med Allreds, Dragerton; Bert Allred, Grand Junction; the Jack Allreds, Altonah; the Lawrence Henry family, Orem; Merrell Henry, Salt Lake City; Bob Allred, Duchesne; Mrs. Weathy Smith, Wyoming and Karl Fleming, Ajo, Arizona.
