Mrs. Emma C. Nyquist was born January 20, 1885 near Wahoo, Nebraska and passed away at her home September 8, 1970 at the age of 85 years, 7 months, 19 days. Her mother passed away when she was one year old and at the age of 12 years, with her father and stepmother, they moved to Polk County and since that time resided in this community.

On April 24,1918 she was united in marriage to Mr. Ernest E. Nyquist in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Nyquist passed away December 12,1967. Mrs. Nyquist was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the first confirmation class in this church. She took a great interest in the church activities.

Those left to mourn her departure are the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Hilma Hermann, Hayward, California; Mrs. Selma Peterson, Mrs. Mary Gerdes, Albert and John Anderson of Osceola; and Wilmer Anderson of Stromsburg, Nebraska. Other relatives include sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mabel Anderson, Mrs. Lenore Anderson, Mrs. Herman Anderson, Mrs. Albert Anderson and Mrs. Wilmer Anderson, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Her husband, parents, three brothers, three brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held from the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Friday, September 11, 1970, at 2:00 p.m. and burial was in the Osceola Cemetery. Mrs. Paul Konig at the organ accompanied Carl Cedarberg, the vocalist. Pastor Paul Konig delivered the last words of comfort. Escorts were Martin Jones, Otto Nelson, Enoch Anderson, Kenneth Sipes, Clarence Carlson and Clarence Anderson.
