The funeral for Hazel Vinnard, 86, of New Rockford, ND was held at the Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. Interment was in the church cemetery in block 3 plot 96. She died on 12 Feb 2005 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. Evans Funeral Home of New Rockford was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Bernice Simonson was born on 11 Aug 1918 on a farm in Wells County, near Hamberg to Soren and Clara Rosendahl Simonson. She was reared in Wells County of ND and attended Norway Lake Township School. During world war two she worked for Boeing as a riveter in Seattle, WA. On 29 May 1947 she married Orville Vinnard at Fessenden, ND. They farmed in the Maddock area for 30 years. They retired and in 1983 moved to New Rockford. He died on 3 Jul 1991.

She was a member of the Viking Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the Birthday Club and the senior citizens club all of New Rockford. She loved traveling, quilting, playing cards, making lefse, doing year work and animals. She attended the Hostfest at Minot annually.

Survivors include a son, Orson Vinnard of New Rockford; three daughters, Val (Carroll) Johnson of Fergus Falls, MN, Irene McBain of New Rockford and Dorlee Vinnard of Minot; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Olga and two brothers, Henry Simonson and Clarence Simonson.
