She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and her flowers and garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Poteat, her son Neal Poteat, her sisters Kathryn B. Watkins, Mabel B. Carson, Pearl B. Hicks and Ivis Bost; her brothers Mack Bost, Con Bost, Bud Bost and infant brother Charles.
Mrs. Poteat is survived by three children, Annette Bryant and husband Jason of Marion, Eleanor Evans of Atlanta, GA., and Christine Poteat of Fairbanks, Alaska and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Poteat of Glenwood. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Packett and Joyce Hogan of Marion. She has nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Glenwood Baptist Church, 3:00 PM with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. Receiving of friends will be 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Glenwood Baptist Church, PO Box 218, Glenwood, NC 28737.
∼Hazel Nora Bost Poteat was the 5th of 11 children born to Ernest Calloway Bost and Annie Carrie Mae Whisenant Bost.
As a young person, she was a member of West Marion Baptist Church an played the position of Guard on her high school Basketball Team.
She married Kenneth Justice Poteat of Glenwood on August 15, 1937.
