Dorothy "Dot" Iva Bost Packett, age 92, of Marion, NC passed away on Friday, 2 May, 2014. She was born 24 April, 1922 in Marion to the late Ernest Conley and Carrie May Bost. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Elmer Packett Sr., daughter Linda Agnes Packett along with five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three sons, a daughter, and a sister: Charles Elmer Packett Jr. and his wife Janie of Marion, NC; John Keith Packett and his wife Kim of Marion, NC; David Timothy Packett and his wife Judy of Navarre, FL; and sister Joyce Bost Hogan of Marion, NC. Dot also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews; all that she loved dearly.

Dot was a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw. A beloved member of her Church, for which she was the pianist for many years and active in many roles in the congregation, she was a well-respected member of the community and business owner. One of her many talents was her famous skill in the kitchen; her home cooking was truly second to none and will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral was held at West Marion Baptist Church at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, 6 May, 2014. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina on Wednesday, 7 May, 2014 at 10 AM.
