John Seitz came to Fairfield County, Ohio, with his parents in 1801 and he married Magdelena in 1811. They located permanently in Bloom Township, Seneca County, in 1823, Mr. Seitz having come out the previous year, bought land and built a house, and named Bloom Township. John Seitz was serving as county commissioner when the first court house was built in Tiffin, in 1834, and he filled the office of justice of the peace for about fifteen years. Eight children were born to this marriage.
