On the 5th day of April, 1822, Noah Seitz, from Fairfield county, settled upon the north-east quarter of section twenty, in what is now the township of Bloom. This was the first settlement within its limits.

Mr. Seitz sold out soon after, to Edward Sutherland, and removed to Eden township, upon the banks of Honey creek, just above the present village of Melmore, where he still resides.
