Woodville Examiner, 18 Jan 1897
Obituary
One of Woodville's oldest residents, Mrs Sarah Harding, died at her residence, Manor Farm, yesterday morning at 3 o'clock. Mrs Harding had been ailing for about three weeks, but no danger was feared until the last day or two, when she had a severe attack of enteritis, from which she did not recover and died as above.
Mr and Mrs Harding and family arrived in Woodville twenty years ago and settled in the virgin bush near the racecourse, which by hard work Mr Harding in a short time made one of the best farms in district. After his death, which occurred suddenly some seven years ago, the management of the farm devolved on the eldest son, Frank, who has made a splendid place of it. The Woodville racecourse, which is on the property, is without exception on the best in the Colony.
The late Mrs Harding was a thoroughly good woman and her death will be deeply regretted by a large circle of friends. She leaves a large family of eight sons and one daughter, the latter being married to Mr F. Hill, of Scarborough.
The funeral will take place tomorrow and will be conducted by the Salvation Army.
