Tributes Are Paid to J Alvin Tolman
J Alvin Tolman was born in Tooele City, Utah, March 1859. He married Jane Gorringe, December 12, 1879.
In 1880 he moved to Marion in the Oakley valley, and resided there till his death June 4, 1926, having ben a pioneer in this country in a very real meaning of the word.
Mr Tolman was father to 13 children (12 of whom are living), and had 84 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The living children are: Willian A Tolman, Owen Tolman, Mrs Alice Larson, Parley Tolman, Daniel Tolman, Mrs Louisa Cranney, Mrs Myrtle Freestone, Mrs Tessa Hunting of Oakley; Cyrus Tolman. Mrs Fannie Cunningham of Burley, Mrs Lydia Egbert of Murtaugh; Osborne Tolman of Fairview, Wyoming. Another son, Rulen Tolman, died several years ago.
The funeral was conducted at the Marion ward chapel. Sunday afternoon, May 6, at three o'clock, with Bishop Eugene Pickett presiding. Tributes to the sterling qualities of the deceased were paid by Bishop Pickett, Bishop W T Cranney, James Whitby, Robert Smith, W T Harper, Judson I Tolman (of Murtaugh). President John L Smith.
Opening Prayer was by J R Price; benediction by Edward Hunter. Beautiful musical numbers were given, including the following:...
