"ANDY" PRUIT RITES TODAY
Funeral for John Andrew [Andy] Pruit, 61, Abilene engineer and highway contractor, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Elliott's Chapel of Memories.
The Rev. Hubert Thomson, pastor of First Methodist Church, will officiate, with burial in theElmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Pruit died at 4:20 a.m. Monday in Sadler Clinic at Merkel.
He was born March 26, 1902 at Hylton, Nolan County, and was reared there. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs.
J. A. Pruit Sr.
Mr. Pruit became a civil engineer and for many years was associated with the Texas Highway Department at Sweetwater, Big Spring, Colorado City and Abilene.
Since suffering a stroke in 1953, he had engaged in ranching in Stonewall County.
Mr. Pruit was married to Carrie Sedberry at Blackwelll in 1927.
The family home is at 1442 Tanglewood Drive.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry Henson of 2625 Salinas, Abilene; one granddaughter, Carrie Elizabeth Henson; two sisters, Mrs. W. E. Hillier of Carlsbad, N.M., and Mrs. Horace Roberts, Lubbock; and three brothers, Burl Pruit of Lubbock, T. D. Pruit of Carlsbad and V. L. Pruit of Albuquerque.
The family asks that remembrances be in the form of gifts to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Pruit was a Mason and a member of the First Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Clyde McMaison of Big Spring, J. H. Strain of Haskell, B. G. Brown, E. B. Yeatts, Jan Skinner and Boyd J. McDaniel, all of Abilene.
All of his friends are named as honorary pallbearers.
