Lozzia Hellen Cruse was born December 10, 1872, in Missouri, one of eight children born to Henry Cruse and Martha Wright. She moved with her family from Ray County, Missouri to Stafford Twp., Stafford County, Kansas in 1883 where her father purchased a homestead southwest of Stafford City. Unfortunately he died two months later leaving Lozzia's mother, Martha, with 8 children ranging in age from 14 to 4. Fortunately two of Henry's brothers, Samuel and John, were also homesteading close by and were able to provide support to the devastated family. Living southeast of Stafford in the York Township was the family of William and Mary Ann Beagley. Lozzia married their eldest son Lewis on February 3, 1887 when she was 14 years old. To this union were born 10 children. The Beagley family relocated to Woods County, Oklahoma Territory in 1893 with the opening of the Cherokee Outlet to settlement.
