Edgar R. Lackey, a White Salmon area resident since 1944, died Saturday at Skyline Hospital at the age of 85.

Mr. Lackey was born May 5, 1897, in Sherwood, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. William Lackey. He married Fay Wilcox in Los Angeles April 9, 1924. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of Local 1896 Carpenters Union.

He is survived by his wife Fay, Bingen; one daughter, Billie Jean Hilton, Amarillo, Texas; a stepson, James E. Norris, Lake Isabelle, Calif., two sisters, Helen Maddux, Uvalde, Texas, and Jenny James, San Angelo, Texas; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Lackey were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon with Rev. Bobby Joe Beauchamp. Interment will be at Rose City Cemetery in Portland, following cremation.
