Niels William was the first of 21 children born to his father Niels Christian, and the first of 5 born to his mother Ingeborg. His father had three wives during the polygamy period in Utah. He was one of the main school teachers in Manti for 30 years. Afterwards, he was involved in several business ventures in and around Carbon County, Utah. He passed away at the home of his daughter Genevieve.
