Niels (Neils) Anderson was born in Buskahuset, Lund, Malmohus, Sweden

Neils Anderson was a farmer in Sweden before coming to America in November of 1855 settling in St. Louis Missouri.

Neils came across the plains with the Matthias Cowley Company of 1857 departing from Iowa City, Iowa 15 June 1857 and arriving in the Salt Lake Valley 15 September. He was listed as being 21 at the time.

After coming to Utah in 1857, he was sent to Ephraim, Sanpete County. There he built a house inside the fort and had an active part in the Black Hawk War. In 1864 he was called to help settle Circle Valley. After setting up a home and farm there he had to return to Ephraim because of the Indian troubles of the time. On November 15, 1857 he married Ingeborg Paulsen, they having four sons that lived.

Neils had two other wives; Anna Christine Jenson and Maris Petria Perterson
