Laura's stone says she was born in 1896. Another daughter, Martha, was born also in March of 1896. My family history has Laura born in 1895. Her death certificate also gives 1895.

Laura Alice Schuessler, 84, of Lone Tree died Friday, Aug. 10 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Services were held Monday at Sorden’s Chapel in Lone Tree, with Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery.

She was born Mar. 9, 1895, near Lone Tree, to Michael and Mary Stamm Schuessler. She was a member of the Lone Tree United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one sister, Frieda Carpenter of Lone Tree; two brothers, Arthur Schuessler of Lone Tree and Albert Schuessler of Iowa City; 15 nieces and nephews; 30 great nieces and nephews; and 17 great great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Marvin Schuessler, Marion Carpenter, Warren Carpenter, LeMoine Heither, Wayne Burr and Leslie Perezek.
