CLAUDE, June 4--John H. Wiegman, who had engaged in farming since coming here 39 years ago, died at 1 pm Wednesday at his home, following a heart attack. He was 74 years old.
Before coming to Claude, Mr. Wiegman was a school teacher. He homesteaded in South Dakota many years ago. Later, he moved to Iowa, then returned to South Dakota. He came here in 1913.
He was a member of the Claude Methodist Church and was a former Mason.
A native of Michigan, he was born Nov. 22, 1877.
Among survivors are four daughter, Mrs. Betsy Youngblood, Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Vera Posey, Gunter, Tex., and Mrs. Fern Hollingsworth and Miss Grace Wiegman, both of Claude; and three grandchildren, Iselea Mae and John Piece Youngblood, both of Bremerton, and Dale Hole Hollingsworth, of Claude.
Also surviving are two brothers, Fred Wiegman, Claude, and E.H. Wiegman, Rolfe, Iowa; and four sisters, Mrs. Wesley Cornwell and Mrs. Frank Gilleland, both of Morton, Minn., Mrs. Joe Hertz, Rolfe, Iowa, and Mrs. Alden Jones, Long Beach, Cal.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home in Amarillo.
