JEFFERSONVILLE EVENING NEWS OBITUARY – 06/08/1963
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary B. Smith, 68, widow of Louis V. Smith, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church at Navilleton, Ind., with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith died at 5 a.m. Friday in her home at R. 1, Borden. A native of Clark County, she was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Ann Altar Society. Surviving are five sons, Callistus J., Julius W. and Louis E. Smith, all of Borden, Robert P. Smith of Floyds Knobs, and George I. Smith of Memphis; five daughters, Mrs. Marcella Miller, Mrs. Edith Ems, and Mrs. Mary Geswein, all of Borden, Mrs. Regina Jacobi of Floyds Knobs, and Mrs. Rita Austin of New Albany; two brothers, Julius Koetter of Borden, and William Koetter of Clarksville; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Grantz, Clark County, and Miss Hilda Koetter of Clarksville; 68 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The Altar Society will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at Kraft Funeral Home, New Albany.

Mrs. Mary Bernadine Smith, who died early this morning at the age of 68, left 68 grandchildren and one great-grandchild as survivors. Mrs. Smith died unexpectedly at 5 a.m. today at her residence, R. 1, Borden. She is the widow of Louis V. Smith. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Navilleton, Mrs. Smith was a member of the St. Ann's Altar Society. She was a native of Clark County. She is survived by five sons and five daughters. Sons include Callistus J., Louis E., and Julius W. Smith, all of Borden, Robert P. Smith, Floyds Knobs, and George I. Smith, Memphis. Daughters are Mrs. Marcella Miller, Mrs. Edith Ems, and Mrs. Mary Geswein, all of Borden, Mrs. Regina Jacobi, Floyds Knobs, and Mrs. Rita Austin, New Albany. Mrs. Smith is survived by two brothers – Julius Koetter, Borden and William Koetter, Clarksville. The former Mary Koetter, she is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Grantz, Clark County, and Miss Hilda Koetter, Clarksville. The body will be at the Kraft Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
