SMITH - Julius W., 86, died Sunday morning, February 18, 2007, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany and was retired, after 25 years of service, from Occidental Chemical Corporation. Julius was born in Navilleton, IN on November 20, 1920 to the late Louis V. and Mary Bernadine (Koetter) Smith. He enjoyed raising his family on the farm on Borden Road. Julius was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Callistus Smith, two sisters, Marcella Miller and Regina Jacobi, a grandson, Rick Smith and a great granddaughter, Krista Ann Smith. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosetta (Hess) Smith; sons, Jim Smith (Mary Ann) of New Albany, Dick Smith (Linda) of Borden, Juder Smith (Jean) of Greenville, Jerry Smith (Elaine) of Floyds Knobs; daughters, Phyllis Andres (Ron) of Sellersburg, Darlene Schy (Martin) of New Albany, Karen Thomas (Tim) of Borden and Denise Bomersbach (Brad) of Georgetown; his brothers, Bob Smith of Floyds Knobs, Bud Smith of Borden and George Smith of Memphis; sisters, Edith Ems of Borden, Mary Geswein of New Albany and Rita Austin of Louisville, KY; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Cemetery, Navilleton, IN. Visitation will be from noon - 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Generations Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN) with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
