JEFFERSONVILLE EVENING NEWS OBITUARY – 11/16/1962
Louis V. Smith, 70, a retired farmer, died suddenly at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in his home, at R.1, Borden. Smith was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church at Navilleton and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Bernadine Smith; five sons, Callistus J., Julius W., Robert P., and Louis E. Smith, all of Floyds Knobs, and George I. Smith of St. Joseph; five daughters, Mrs. Marcella Miller, Mrs. Edith Ems, Mrs. Regina Jacobi, and Mrs. Mary Geswein, all of Floyds Knobs, and Mrs. Rita Austin of New Albany; six brothers, William and Adolph Smith, both of New Albany, Charles Smith of Floyds Knobs, Joseph Smith of Tampa, Fla., George Smith of Rankin, Ill., and Paul Smith of Oxford; three sisters, Mrs. Adeline Heeke of New Albany, Mrs. Clara Naville of Floyds Knobs and Mrs. Mayme Rollins of Frankfort; 68 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Friends may call at the Kraft Funeral Home, New Albany, after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral services for Louis V. Smith will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Navilleton with interment in the church cemetery. Smith, 70, died suddenly Thursday afternoon in his home at Rt. 1, Borden.

He retired from farming in 1957 and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Navilleton and the church's Holy Name Society.
