Mrs. Mary Bowles Peterson, 85, of route 2, Statesville, died at 2:35 a.m. today at Davis Community Hospital.
She was born in Iredell County July 23, 1905, and was a daughter of the late Adolphus and Mary Guy Bowles. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Harry Peterson, preceded her in death in 1952.
She also was preceded in death by six brothers, Dwight, Foy, Ernest, Thomas, Perry and Joe Bowles, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Bowles and Mrs. Dovie Bowles Lackey.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Spencer Sprinkle, of route 2, Statesville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funerl services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mountain View United Methodist Church, with Rev. Luther Crady officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Nephews who will serve as pallbearers will include Albert Sprinkle, Roger Sprinkle, Gilbert Bowles, Bob Lackey, Cecil Bowles, Alfred Bowles, Ralph Lackey, Larry Bowles and Roy Bowles.
The family will assemble at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Sprinkle, State Road 1710 off Bowles Farm Road, but will recieve friends from 7-8:30 p.m today at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Mountain View United Methodist Church.
