Ernest Bowles, 75, route 2, Statesville, died at 10 a.m. today, while he and a companion were working with cattle in a neighbors field.
According to Dr. J. Harvey Nicholson, acting county health director, death was due to a heart attack.
Mr. Bowles is survived by his wife, Sarah Drye Bowles; two sons, Alfred Bowles, Monticello Drive, and Roy L. Bowles, route 2, Statesville; three brothers, Foy Bowles, Statesville, Joe Bowles and Tom Bowles, both of route 2, Statesville; two sisters, Mrs. Spencer Sprinkle, route 2, Statesville, and Mrs. Mary Peterson, of Charlotte; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The body will remain at Johnson Funeral Home pending completion of funeral plans.
