Louisa Philomena Entrop was born on August 30, 1900 in Tours, McLennan County, Texas. It was in Tours, at St. Martin's School, that the first seed of a religious vocation was planted. Louisa had not attended St. Martin's School very long when the family moved to Westphalia, in Falls County, Texas. There Louisa continued her education under the tutorage of the Sisters of Divine Providence.
Louisa was twenty when she entered the convent, taking the first step on December 22, 1920. After two years of study, she entered the novitiate on January 21, 1922. At this ceremony she received her habit and the name Sister Mary Theodoret.
Sister Mary Theodoret spent the first years of her religious life in the convent itself. In 1924, she was missioned to Providence Academy in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana and remained there for two years. Her next assignment took her to Broussard, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana for a year after which she returned to Providence Academy. In 1929, she was asked to return to Broussard, where she remained for five years as a teacher at St. Cecilia's High School, with 7 other Catholic Sisters. She was devoted to her work, to the point of being overly exact and worrisome to others.
Cloutierville, Louisiana was her next assignment, but not being very robust in health, she was asked to work in the Convent the following year. After recuperation, she was again assigned to Broussard, where she worked for eight years.
Sister Mary Theodoret had returned to the convent in San Antonio, Texas in 1942, where she worked as a housekeeper. She died of liver cancer at Our Lady of the Lakes Convent, 24th & Durango, San Antonia, Texas on March 22, 1943. Her life was filled with loving and devoted service. She was a living example of a true follower of Christ.
Sister Mary Theodoret was laid to rest at Sister of Divine Providence Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas. Alamo Funeral Home, 624 N. Alamo, San Antonio, Texas was in charge.
