Family Dinner is Enjoyed
Just at noon today a family dinner was served under the cherry trees at the Hancock ranch up in the mountains. Mr. and Mrs. Will Hancock and their guests, Mrs. Croston, Mrs. Nell Croston and Miss Ethel Croston, Robert Hancock, Alvin Hancock, Mr. and Mrs. John Nish, Miss Adeline Nish and Miss Barbara Shay left at an early hour this morning for the big cherry ranch. They are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Hancock.

Farewell the Professor F.W. Nish At the J.G. Nish Home
A company of relatives and friends were entertained Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Nish in Base Line in honor of Prof. Fred W. Nish who is who is returning to his duties as a member of the faculty of the (_) Mrs. Nish and also in San Francisco, after a vacation visit here.
His nieces, Misses Ruby and Adeline Nish, who are returning with him in his Peerless Six, were also guests of honor. They will make a visit at Vallejo with Raymond Nish who is in the government shipyards there and Mrs, Nish and also in San Francisco.
Music, a watermelon feast, and much sociability was included in the delightful evening enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Daley, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Godfrey, Mr. and Mrs. Justin Seiple and daughter, Elaine, Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Nish, J. Nish, Miss Ruby Nish (and 16 others).

Treasurer Smith Haile reported the thirty-sixth anniversary dance in the Log Cabin on Saturday evening a grand success, all participants enjoying themselves to the limit in old-fashioned quadrilles and fancy dances until midnight. The music was furnished by Mrs. John Case, piano, Webster Vale, violin, and Albert A. McNiff, cornet; the caller was John Nish.
The applications of John G.Nish and of his wife, Ellen Bessant Nish, and also of Strong Bemis and his wife, Annie C. Bemis, for membership, being reported favorably by S.C. Cox, Lucia Godfrey and Jennie Bemis, investigating committee, the candidates were elected. Mrs. Annie Bemis, as an honorary member, signed the constitution with Mr. and Mrs. Sheets, who had been elected at a prior meeting. All were congratulated and expressed their pleasure and appreciation of the honor in joining this Pioneer Society.

Mrs. John Nish was hostess at a pleasant meeting of the Bluebird club at luncheon at her home at 220 Orange street. The luncheon was served at small tables decorated in bouquets of spring flowers and baskets of fruit blooms were about the room.
Places were laid for (7 members).
In the game of 500 which followed the pleasant luncheon hour, the honors were won by Mrs. Cherry, Mrs. Upp and Mrs. Good.

JOHN G. NISH RITES SET FOR MONDAY
Funeral services for John G. Nish, former chief of police, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from J.W. Woodhouse & Co. chapel. Mr. Nish died early Saturday morning from pneumonia at St. Bernardine’s hospital.
Mr. Nish, a native of San Bernardino, became ill early last week. He was removed to the hospital late Friday afternoon, and given a blood transfusion. He rapidly grew worse, however, lapsing into unconsciousness. He had been confined to his home at 220 Orange street.
Officers of the Eagles lodge and the rev. Otis D. Ironmonger of the First Presbyterian church will be in charge of the funeral services. Interment will be in the Mountain View cemetery.
In recent years, Mr. Nish operated a night patrol service in the downtown district. He served as chief of the police department from 1927 to 1929, during the first administration of former Mayor I.N. Gilbert, and served two terms as constable of San Bernardino township. A member of one of the pioneer families of the valley, Mr. Nish for years was a rancher in the Warm Springs district.
Surviving are two sons, LeRoy R. and Albert R. Nish, and one daughter, Mrs. Adeline Thayer, all of San Bernardino; two brothers, Robert Nish of San Bernardino and Fred W. Nish of San Francisco; a sister, Mrs. Isabelle Poole of San Bernardino, and five grandchildren, Eloyse, Virginia, Roy and Williams Nish and Mary Louise Thayer.
