Robert Nish was born in San Bernardino on January 30, 1862. On June 4, 1890 Mr. Nish married Isabella Shelley and lived at 1268 W. 7th Street, where they raised two children. Mr. Nish began his law enforcement career as one of the original members of the San Bernardino Police Force in 1905. In 1910 Officer Nish left the San Bernardino Police Department and went to work as a Deputy Sheriff for the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department until 1920 when he became a railroad car repairman with the Santa Fe Railroad.
Mr. Nish's family became distant to the San Bernardino Valley Area and his only known relative is his grand daughter, Mrs. Shirley Smith of Buena Vista, Colorado.

But The Suverkrup Mill People on Heights Make Rom For Them In Their Great Dining Hall And All’s Well
STRAWBERRY FLAT, near Pine Crest, August 3 - The recent trip of the Strawberry Flat picnickers to the Suverkrup mill was much enjoyed, in spite of the fact that Jupiter Tonans, aided by scowling Pluvius, was doing his best to cause terror, if not discomfort. Observing the plight of the visiting peak-dwellers, the kindly Suverkrupians escorted them to the large dining room, where the groaning baskets were greatly relived and some large Lehman pies devoured with gusto. The mill people in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. James Nish, daughters Hazel and Ethel, and son James (and 45 others).
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Patterson and daughter Pauline, of San Bernardino, are under canvas with the families of John Henderson and Robert Nish, at Camp R.P.N.H., Strawberry Flat.

Mrs. R.G. Nish of 1268 Seventh street, was hostess at yesterday’s pleasant gathering of the Gate City Embroidery club.
Red and white carnations made a pleasing decoration, setting forth the colors of the club.
Ruby Nish entertained the ladies with piano selections, and while the ladies stitched on their needlework, plans were discussed for a picnic outing in the mountains in the near future when the families of the members will be included in the fun.
Mrs. J.H. Alvord was a guest of the club, the other ladies present being Nrs, Nish (and 6 others).

Outing Is Greatly Enjoyed
A jolly picnic outing was enjoyed at a family gathering yesterday in Glenn Ranch, the party leaving San Bernardino early in the morning and returning at dusk. The morning hours were spent in viewing the beauties of that famous resort followed by the serving of a delicious picnic luncheon, while the afternoon was dedicated to much the same manner as the forenoon.
Among those who enjoyed the out - were Mr. and Mrs. Will Holcomb, and son, Grant Holcolm of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Nish and daughter, Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Poole and daughter, Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Nish of Rialto and daughter, Miss Ethel Nish, and James Nish, Mr. and Mrs. J. Grant and daughter, Miss Jessie, and sons, Fred and Archie, of Paso Robles, who are enjoying a visit with Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Holcomb.

The Friday Afternoon Sewing Club members were delightfully entertained this afternoon at the home of Mrs. R.G. Nish at 1268 Seventh street.
After several happy hours spent with fancy work and visiting a dainty buffet, luncheon in two courses was served. The rooms of the Nish home were beautiful in violet decorations.
Among those spending the happy afternoon with Mrs. Nish were: Mrs. J.E. Nish and daughter, Miss Ethel Nish of Rialto, Mrs. John Nish (and 14 others).

Farewell Gathering Held at Nish Home
As a pleasant farewell to Prof. Fred W. Nish of San Francisco, who has been spending the summer with relatives in this city, Mr. and Mrs. John G. Nish entertained informally at their home on Orange street Friday night.
Professor Nish and Miss Marjorie Poole were dinner guests at the home and they were later joined by a group of relatives. The evening was spent with conversation and music.
Mrs. John Nish, her daughter, Miss Adeline Nish, and Marjorie Poole leave Monday morning for San Francisco with Professor Nish. The trip will be made by machine over the coast route. Mrs. Nish and her daughter will go on to Vallejo, where they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nish. Miss Poole will enter the University of California and Professor Nish will take up his work in the affiliated colleges in San Francisco.
At the John Nish home the guests included Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Nish, Jay Nish, Miss Ruby Nish, Mrs. N.J. Levinson, Miss Winifred Yaeger, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Martin and son Billy Paul, Mrs. Ida Nish and James Nish.

DEATH CLAIMS ROBERT G. NISH
Robert G. Nish, member of a well known pioneer family of the valley, died at 5 a.m. yesterday at Loma Linda hospital where he was taken two weeks ago when his condition became critical. He had been in failing health for many months.
Mr. Nish was born in San Bernardino 74 years ago and lived here all his life. For many years, he was an employe of the Santa Fe Railway Co., but had been retired for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Pioneer Society.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Ruby Nish, teacher at the Jefferson School, and J.W. Nish, both of San Bernardino; a brother, Fred Nish of San Francisco, a sister, Mrs. Isabelle Poole of San Bernardino, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Mark B. Shaw Memorial chapel.

Funeral services for Robert G. Nish were held at 2 p.m. yesterday from Mark B. Shaw Memorial chapel, with George H. Wixom officiating.
Mrs. Lois Aldridge Johnson, playing her own accompaniment, sang “Face to Face” and “No Night There”.
Honorary pallbearers were Ed Stiles, Walter Henderson, C.E. Bradford, Frank Holmes, C. Grimes and Bert Fuller. Active pallbearers were William Martin, Will Shay, Thomas Holmes, David Henderson, Murl Roberds and Will Hancock. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery.

Outing Is Greatly Enjoyed
A jolly picnic outing was enjoyed at a family gathering yesterday in Glenn Ranch, the party leaving San Bernardino early in the morning and returning at dusk. The morning hours were spent in viewing the beauties of that famous resort followed by the serving of a delicious picnic luncheon, while the afternoon was dedicated to much the same manner as the forenoon.
Among those who enjoyed the out - were Mr. and Mrs. Will Holcomb, and son, Grant Holcolm of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Nish and daughter, Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Poole and daughter, Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Nish of Rialto and daughter, Miss Ethel Nish, and James Nish, Mr. and Mrs. J. Grant and daughter, Miss Jessie, and sons, Fred and Archie, of Paso Robles, who are enjoying a visit with Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Holcomb.

Friday Afternoon Sewing Club
The Friday Afternoon Sewing Club members were delightfully entertained this afternoon at the home of Mrs. R.G. Nish at 1268 Seventh street.
After several happy hours spent with fancy work and visiting a dainty buffet, luncheon in two courses was served. The rooms of the Nish home were beautiful in violet decorations.
Among those spending the happy afternoon with Mrs. Nish were: Mrs. J.E. Nish and daughter, Miss Ethel Nish of Rialto, Mrs. John Nish (and 14 others).

Dancing and Merry Time Enjoyed At the C.J. Daley Home
A company of friends enjoyed one of the jolly old-fashioned evenings at the C.J. Daley home, in North E street last night.
Dancing and music and singing were the principal amusements, and a feast of good things during the evening.

Farewell Gathering Held at Nish Home
As a pleasant farewell to Prof. Fred W. Nish of San Francisco, who has been spending the summer with relatives in this city, Mr. and Mrs. John G. Nish entertained informally at their home on Orange street Friday night.
Professor Nish and Miss Marjorie Poole were dinner guests at the home and they were later joined by a group of relatives. The evening was spent with conversation and music.
Mrs. John Nish, her daughter, Miss Adeline Nish, and Marjorie Poole leave Monday morning for San Francisco with Professor Nish. The trip will be made by machine over the coast route. Mrs. Nish and her daughter will go on to Vallejo, where they will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nish. Miss Poole will enter the University of California and Professor Nish will take up his work in the affiliated colleges in San Francisco.
At the John Nish home the guests included Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Nish, Jay Nish, Miss Ruby Nish, Mrs. N.J. Levinson, Miss Winifred Yaeger, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Martin and son Billy Paul, Mrs. Ida Nish and James Nish.

In the Jan. 5, 1920 U.S. census, 57 yr. old Robert G. Nish, a carpenter in the Railroad shops, b. in CA., was living on Seventh St. in San Bernardino, San Bernardino, CA. with his
46 yr. old wife, Isabelle Nish, b. in UT.
24 yr. old daughter, Ruby Nish, a county librarian, b. in CA.
20 yr. old son, Jay W. Nish, a machinist in the Railroad shops, b. in CA.

Robert's parents were both b. in Scotland.

Officer Nish died on July 7, 1936 at Loma Linda hospital at the age of 74, after a long illness.

DEATH CLAIMS ROBERT G. NISH
Robert G. Nish, member of a well known pioneer family of the valley, died at 5 a.m. yesterday at Loma Linda hospital where he was taken two weeks ago when his condition became critical. He had been in failing health for many months.
Mr. Nish was born in San Bernardino 74 years ago and lived here all his life. For many years, he was an employe of the Santa Fe Railway Co., but had been retired for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Pioneer Society.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Ruby Nish, teacher at the Jefferson School, and J.W. Nish, both of San Bernardino; a brother, Fred Nish of San Francisco, a sister, Mrs. Isabelle Poole of San Bernardino, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Mark B. Shaw Memorial chapel.

Funeral services for Robert G. Nish were held at 2 p.m. yesterday from Mark B. Shaw Memorial chapel, with George H. Wixom officiating.
Mrs. Lois Aldridge Johnson, playing her own accompaniment, sang “Face to Face” and “No Night There”.
Honorary pallbearers were Ed Stiles, Walter Henderson, C.E. Bradford, Frank Holmes, C. Grimes and Bert Fuller. Active pallbearers were William Martin, Will Shay, Thomas Holmes, David Henderson, Murl Roberds and Will Hancock. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery.
