Mary Elizabeth Yeates was born in Millville, the daughter of Frederick Yeates and Sarah Webb. She was one of the first white children born in Millville.

On March 10, 1884, Mary and Robert James Graham were married. Robert was the son of Robert Graham and Mary Ellen Reed,. He was born October 17, 1863 at Salt Lake City and came to Millville as a small child. He suffered all the privations and difficulties of early days in this community.

Mary was no stranger to hard work, and she learned early to take her share of responsibility. These traits were her mainstay when Robert died on January 12, 1887, leaving her, at age twenty-one, a widow with two daughters, the oldest not yet two. She moved back home with her parents. As soon as her children were old enough, she left them with her mother and took a course in obstetrics and nursing in Salt Lake City. She assisted in bringing many babies into the world. She was a self-educated woman, patient, kind and unselfish. She worked in all the organizations of the LDS Church, was Superintendent of the Religion Class and did genealogy and temple work.

Robert and Mary were the parents of: Elvira (Ernest Neves) and Delila (John Edward Roueche).

On December 3, 1902, Mary married Hyrum Smith Hulse. Hyrum was born at Tiverton, Newport, Rhode Island, the son of Charles Wesley and Ann Smith Hulse. After arriving in Salt Lake City in 1862, he and his brother learned the potter's trade. In 1864 he came with his parents to Millville. For four summers during his youth, he fought the grasshoppers in the fields.

Hyrum was President of the Canyon Company, the Agriculture Association and of South Cache Milling. He was also President of Millville Town Board for four years, and he held many positions in the Church.

Children of Hyrum and Mary are: Selwyn Hyrum and Alvor Smith.
