Obituary...Died, near Altoona, Pennsylvania June 18, 1865, Joseph Lafferty aged 58 years, 10 months and 17 days. As a good citizen and a member of the Christian church, br. Lafferty deserves a brief tribute of regard in the column of the "Observer." The deceased was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and removed to Huntington County in 1830, and in 1840 united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Sinking Valley, under the pastoral care of Reverand Michael Eyster. In 1847 he removed to the vicinity of Altoona and united with the church at that place, under the pastoral care of Rev. H. Baker. Since then he has been uniformly faithful to his obligations as a follower of the Lord Jesus. If his life and peaceful death afford any evidence, we may be assured that he is now enjoying the everlasting reward of faith in Christ. Kind, honest and industrious, he will long be mourned by his family, by society and by the congregation. Our ??? is that he sleeps in Jesus Blessed Sleep.
