This photo of Leah was in a newspaper article about three women, all nonagenarians, Mrs. Leah Kemerer Hoffman of Eddyville, Mrs. Margaret Ginter Wallace of near Delmont and Mrs. Sarah Irwin. The article says:

'Mrs. Leah Kemerer Hoffman of Eddyville, Pa., was born in Westmoreland County August 27, 1821. In 1840 she married Reuben Hoffman, also of Westmoreland County, with whom whe went in 1841 to the forest at Eddyville, Armstrong County, Pa., where together they cleared a farm and where they made a permanent home. Mr. Hoffman died in 1894 at the age of 83.

Mrs. Hoffman was the mother of 16 children, of whom eight are living,
John H., R. Dallas, Mrs. Sarah M Smith and Mrs. Mary Doverspike of Eddyville, Pa.;
Mrs. William Aites of Clarion, Pa.,
Mrs. Caroline Ellenberger of Belknap, Pa.,
Mrs. Robert Kerr of Crooked Creek, Pa., and
Mrs. Fannie Walker of Rockville, Pa.
There are living 49 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hoffman is totally blind, but her general health is exceedingly good.'


The following is from the Simpson's Daily Leader Wednesday October 27, 1920.. EDDYVILLE WOMAN DEAD AT AGE OF 99
Tarentum, October 26 - Mrs Leah Haufman, grandmother of Mrs. D. A. Hall of Tarentum, and Mrs. W. A. Burchfield of the Bull Creek Road, died at her home in Eddyville, Pa., Sunday. She was in her hundredth year. She was aged 99 years and two months. Mrs. Haufman was born in Westmoreland county August 27, 1821. In 1840 she married Ruban Haufman, also of Westmoreland county and went with him in 1842 to the forests that were then Eddyville, Armstrong county, where together they cleared a farm and made a permanent home. Mr. Haufman died in 1824 at the age of 83. Mrs. Haufman was the mother of sixteen children, of which six are living. There are 49 living grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
