Amy Saphronia Clarke was the daughter of Fred Webster and Cora (Sanders) Clarke.
Amy married March 16, 1927 in Pierce, Wharton County, Texas to Leoreon James Smith.

Mrs. Amy Clarke Smith, 80, of 3007 N. Navarro, died Friday afternoon in a local hospital.
A former resident of El Campo, she was born Sept. 21, 1906, in Mackey, to the late Fred W. and Cora Wade Sanders Clarke Sr. Mrs. Smith was formerly employed as a secretary, and as Postmistress of the post office in Pierce. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wheeler Funeral Home in El Campo with the Rev. Dick Gould officiating.
Burial will follow the services in Wharton under the direction of Wheeler Funeral Home. Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Betty Smith of Victoria; Mrs. J. T. Swope of Port Lavaca; Mrs. Carol Vrana of Plano; Mrs. Freddie Thompson of Houston; a son, Lee J. Smith of Victoria; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Clarke Chappell of El Campo; two brothers, F. W. Clarke Jr. of El Campo; Robert Abel Clarke of Houston; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee J. Smith, Jr.
