Vela Mae Anderson Olliff, 86, of Bristol (Pierce County), died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at her residence after an extended illness. The Wayne County native was a member of the Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, former Sunday School teacher with Ritch Baptist Church for many years. Mrs Olliff had lived in the Bristol area most of her adult life. Vela Mae was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Arlie and Ora Lee Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, James A. Olliff of Bristol; two sons, Victor (Gwynette) Olliff of Bristol and Kim (Michelle) Olliff of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Lynnah Bumgardner of Brunswick; six brothers, Foster Anderson and Brantley Anderson, both of Odum; Woodrow Anderson of Riverdale, Ed Anderson, Kenneth Anderson and Ledford Anderson, all of Jesup; grandchildren, Cory Olliff, Robyn Evans, Nikki Olliff, Kimberly Olliff, four, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct 12 from Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Anderson, Jonathan Six and Elder Reid Davis officiating.
Interment followed in Lake Chapel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Cory Olliff, Kirk Evans, Nick Olliff, Terry Reddick, Chuck Bumgardner and Roger Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Serenity Hospice, 301 W. First Street, Vidalia, GA 30474.

The Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
