Marvel Bishop is owed a great debt of gratitude for his efforts in support of the Bishop genealogy. Smith Bishop Holt [Marvel's nephew] and Eveline O'Brien Holt, who compiled and mimeographed the genealogy in 1956, noted that Marvel "traveled up and down the Pacific states in the 1930s [after his wife had died] with his notebook of family information." The notebook itself seems not to have survived, but copies of the genealogy did.
