Jack J. Dotson, 73, a resident of Tumwater for the past 27 years, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1993, in St. Peter Hospital, Olympia.

He was born Jan. 10, 1920, to John G. and Susie E. (Riley) Dotson, in Boise, Idaho.

Mr. Dotson served in the Army in the European Theater during World War II.

He was married to Helga A. Hommer on Feb. 19, 1948, in Fussen, Germany. She died in 1984.

Mr. Dotson had lived in several locations, including Tumwater, was a self-employed independent log truck driver. He owned and operated Jack J. Dotson Trucking, and retired in 1986.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and square dancing. He also enjoyed bowling and belonged to several bowling leagues at Tumwater Lanes. He was a member of Washington Contract Loggers Association.

Surviving Mr. Dotson are three sons, Roy, Louisville, Texas, and Harry and Rodney, both of Olympia; four daughters, JoAnne Sprague, Groveland, Calif., Susan Gildner, Olympia, Christine Divis, Rochester, and Jeanette Dotson, Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Stephen and Clinton Dotson, both of Olympia; a sister, Naomi Rowland, Ceres, Calif.; also 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours for Mr. Dotson are from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Mills and Mills Funeral Home, Olympia. A graveside service for Mr. Dotson will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Odd Fellows Memorial Park, Tumwater. The Rev. Kenneth Springs of The Church of Living Water, Olympia, will officiate.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Thurston County Heart Fund, 1147 Pacific Place Drive S.E., Lacey, WA 98503.
