"MRS. AGNES "WINNIE" WOODS, 88, of New Hope, died Wednesday, May 16, 1990 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born in Gleanings, Ky., June 12, 1901, and lived most of her life in New Hope. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father, George Thomas Mattingly; her mother, Susan Maggie Holtshouser Mattingly; her husband, John Bernard Woods, Sr.; and two sons, Joseph Stanley Woods and John Bernard "Jake" Woods, Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Rita Mathews of Bardstown, Virginia Bowling of New Hope and Ann Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Octavia Lucas of Bardstown; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Stanley L. Osborne, pastor of the church, officiated. Active pallbearers
were Joe Bowling, Paul Bowling, Kenny Woods and Mike Mathews, all grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Prayer services were conducted Friday, May 18 at Mattingly Funeral Home. Buried in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, New Hope, Ky. Section 4."
