"Terminating as illness of several weeks, death claimed George T. Mattingly, 77, retired farmer, at his home on the Raywick - St. Francis Road Saturday afternoon about 1:30 o'clock. A son of the late John and ? Rhodes Mattingly, he was born in the county and has spent most of his life in the Raywick and St. Francis localities where he was long engaged in agriculture. Surviving him besides his wife, who was the former Miss Susie Maggie Holthauser, are four sons and four daughters. They are Bernard Mattingly of St. Francis, Artie and John Mattingly of New Hope, Earl Mattingly of Louisville, Mrs. Bernard Woods and Mrs. Henry Lucas of New Hope, Mrs. Ben Mattingly of Dant and Miss Bertha Mattingly of St. Francis. His is also survived by one brother, William H. Mattingly of Princeton, thirty-two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Mattingly Funeral Home and was later removed to his late residence. Requiem High Mass was at St. Francis of Assisi Church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, the Rev. J. J. Fitzgibbon officiating and burial followed in the St. Francis cemetery. Six grandson served as pallbearers."
