Grandson of Austin Beasley, Jr. (of Duplin County, North Carolina and later Dale County, Alabama) and Eleanor Reed Powell. He was the great-grandson of Pvt. Austin Beasley, Sr. (a Revolutionary War Soldier & large land owner), and Polly Mary Hollingsworth Carroll Beasley.

He died of progeria disease. He died on his father's ranch in Soledad Canyon, New Mexico.
