Charles E. Thoennes, 72, a retired plumber, died unexpectedly of a heart attack in his home, 808 South Twenty-Second street, at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Born in Lafayette, he spent his life here. He was a manager of the former Lane-Pyke-Werkhoff Plumbing company for 25 years and for 16 years after that operated his own plumbing business. He was married to Catherine Walker in 1904 and they celebrated their golden wedding in January.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church and Catholic Order of Foresters and was past master of the plumbing contractors organization.

Surviving with the widow are two sons, Charles Jr. and Robert; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Ketterer, Mrs. John Zink and Mrs. Marjore Gibson; two brothers, Robert and Albert, and four sisters, Mrs. Matilda Fischer, Mrs. Catherine Carr, Mrs. Helen Morris and Mrs. Claude Miller. The survivors all live in Lafayette.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
THOENNES, Charles E. -- Friends may call at Zahn-Schneider funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday. Solemn requiem high mass in St. Boniface Catholic church at 9 a.m. Saturday. Father Jude Koehlke officiating; burial in St. Boniface cemetery. Rosary service at 8:15 p.m. Friday. Survivors include 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
