Town Chairman Dies
Fred Behnke, Jr., Held Office for Last Five Years
Fred Behnke, Jr., 57, route 2, Brillion, town chairman of the town of Brillion, died at his home at 2:10 Monday afternoon after a long illness.
He was born April 27, 1900, in the town of Maple Grove, Manitowoc county. He farmed in the town of Brillion since 1922. He was supervisor from the township for nine years and was a trustee of Trinity Evangelical Luteran church, Brillion, for nine years. He was town chairman for the last five years.
Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church, Brillion, with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Weiting Funeral home, Brillion, from 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon until 10:30 Thursday morning and then at the church.
He is survived by his widow; five daughters. Mrs. Walter Maile, Mrs. Allan Abel, and Mrs. Milton Lau, all of route 1, Brillion, Mrs. Arthur Krepline, route 2, Reedsville, and Mrs. Al Bartel, route 1, Valders; two sons, Lester, Reedsville, and Wilmer, at home; six brothers, Herman, Erwin and Milton, all of Brillion, Henry, Cato, Waldemar, Reedsville, and Robert, Valders; a step brother, Fred Schaefer, Hilbert; five sisters, Mrs. Alvina Thurow, Mrs. William Fischer and Mrs. Minnie Priebe, all of Brillion, Mrs. Laura Hartz, Hilbert, and Mrs. Milton Nitzkes, Van Dyne; and 26 grandchildren.
