Laura was born into a farm family, with three full siblings and four half-siblings. She may have been born in Perry County where her family had a Carroll Township farm in 1880 and her mother died 1882 in Cumberland County. By 1900 the family was in Cumberland County where Laura was living with her aunt and uncle, David H. and Laura J. Miller, occupation servant.
Laura married a farmer. She and husband David first farmed in Cumberland County and by 1930 were in Latimore Township, Adams County, where they farmed outside East Berlin, and where Laura was living at the time of her death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura J. Arbegast, 79, wife of David P. Arbegast, East Berlin R. 1 who died Tuesday night in the Carlisle Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cochlin Funeral Home in Dillsburg.
The Rev. W.W. Costick, pastor of the Wellsville Evangelical United Brethren Church will officiate. Burial in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. Friends may call after 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was a member of the News Kingston EUB Church.
In addition to her husband, her survivors include her son, Harry W. Arbegast, Dillsburg R 1; a brother Harvey Shatto, Carlisle; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Gleim, Carlisle R. 2; and Mrs. Annie Worman, Kansas City, Mo.
