Mrs. Hensley was born November 3, 1926 in Martinsburg, West Virginia to the late Leonard R. and Maggie Jane McDaniel Kyger. Mrs. Hensley enjoyed the fall colors and summers at Lake Anna where she loved to water ski and enjoyed bowling. She was a member of the McGaheysville United Methodist Church where she was a greeter, cooked and served meals for church functions. Her carrot cake will be missed by many. She retired from Owens Brockway and Duplan.
Her husband, Floyd K. "Tiny" Hensley preceded her in death. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, James Kyger, Thelma Shifflett, Austin Kyger, Sylvester Kyger and Mary Kirtley.
Mrs. Hensley is survived by a daughter, Linda Hamilton, Harrisonburg; sisters, Enda Cannonelle, Florida, Gurnie Kyger, Harrisonburg; grandson, Kenneth Davis (Skip); great-granddaughter, Kendra St. Clair (Lee); great-great-grandchildren, Max St. Clair, Mason St. Clair; Step-grandchildren, Darlene Wiseman (G.W.), Diane Grant (Robin), Clyde Hamilton, Walter Hamilton, Mark Hamilton; special step-great-grandchildren, Caitlin Grant, Jessica Grant, Matthew Grant, and four step-great-grandchildren.
Pastor Wayne Wright and Pastor Jim Wingert will conduct the funeral service 3pm Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening 6 to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 420 Neff Ave. Suite 210, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801.
