ARIES HILL IS DEAD, VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA

Friday night, March 17, 1923, at his residence in the East River District of Mercer County just two miles east of the city, Aries Hill, one of the most substantial farmers in this section of the county, passed into the great beyond, as a result of pneumonia, with which he had been ill for some days.
Born in Ashe County, N.C. about 1852, he was a son of Aley Hill. At the time of his death, Mr. Hill was about seventy-four years of age and had been a resident of this section of the county for some twenty years. He was among the few remaining ex-Confederate soldiers in the county and enjoyed a large acquaintance among the older citizens. He was a man of deep, earnest convictions, honest and steadfast in his dealings with his fellow men and possessed a rare fund of good humor and joviality, which won him friends wherever he went.
He leaves several children, all grown, surviving him. The internment will be made this afternoon from his late home, but at this writing his place of burial had not been decided. His loss in the community will be felt by all classes of citizens.
Note: Burial was March 18, 1923 in Bethel Cemetery near Princeton, W.V.
