He was born Aug. 15, 1908, in Portage, Utah, a son of Isaac and Frances Gibbs Allen. He married Ila Apgood on May 22, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He lived in Ogden until moving to California in 1969. He had been employed as produce manager for American Food Stores, Mayfair Co., Smith's Food King and Albertson's, retiring in 1978.
He was an elder in the Brea 2nd LDS Ward, and had been a member of the Ogden Eagles.
Surviving are his widow of Brea; two sons and one daughter, Ronald J. Allen, San Rafael, Calif.; Gerald E. Allen, Danville, Calif.; Mrs. William E. (Sharon) Peffer, Bountiful; 11 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters, Duggan Allen, Ogden; Gibbs Allen, Portage; Ervin Allen, Malad, Idaho; Cleopha Stewart, Orem; Vera Dredge, Soda Springs, Idaho.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Larkin and Sons Mortuary in Ogden where friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the Malad, Idaho, Cemetery.
