Mrs. Adeline Stoey, Aged Resident, Dies

Mrs. Adeline A. Stoey, aged 80, one of the oldest alumna of Irving College and a member of the First Methodist church (sic), this city, died this morning at 8.15 o'clock at her home, 2335 North Third street (sic), following a lingering illness.

Mrs. Stoey was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. K. Bobb, descendants of an old Cumberland family. She was born on a farm near Mechanicsburg January 19. 1841 where she spent her girlhood day, coming to Harrisburg in 1864.

During the Civil War her brother, John Bobb, was a major in the Union Army and later was affiliated with the National Guard of Pennsylvania, under Governor Hastings.

She attended public schools near Mechanicsburg, later taking a course at Irving College. When she removed to this city she joined the first Methodist Church, then known as the Locust Street Methodist Episcopal Church, which was later succeeded by the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church.

She was the wife of John Ritner Stoey, a widely known wall paper dealer in this city, who retired a number of years ago.

Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev. Robert Bagnell (sic), pastor of the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Harrisburg Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adeline Stoey, aged 80, a member of the first (sic) Methodist Church established in this city, who died Thursday morning, were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev. Robert Bagnall, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. George Edward Reed. Burial was made in the Harrisburg Cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Homer Black, John DeGray, Willard S. Young, T.F. Towsen, J. Hervey Patton and S.D. Sansom.
