The deceased was born and raised at Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He came to Decatur in 1869, but afterwards lived at Bement, Illinois, Lincoln, Nebraska and Peoria, Illinois.
For ten years or more he was in the employ of E. McNabb & Son as a carpenter. He was also associated with C. Kental and subsequently with Lewis Lyon in the business of contracting and building. He was an expert carpenter and a successful contractor, besides being an upright and industrious citizen.
He leaves a widow and three sons, the youngest being 12 years old. He was a member of Decatur Camp of Modern Woodman.
